Mantega offers a wide range of technical services focused on benefiting the archaeology and anthropology communities. Services include but are not limited to:
- 3D Digital Modeling and Forensic Reconstruction- Mantega can build digital 3D models of active archaeological sites and/ or reconstructions of how a site might have looked in the past. By using forensic reconstruction techniques rooted in extremely vast construction experience, Mantega can analyze subtle clues to determine how archaeological sites might have been designed and built, and what resources would have been necessary to build them. Material volumes and earth quantities can be calculated, and past construction sequences can be determined along with the resource hours that would have been involved with the construction.
- Artifact Shape Analysis- Mantega maintains an ever-growing database of the geometry of known archaeological artifacts. New artifacts, even broken fragments, can be entered into the database system where a custom Mantega application will analyze key geometric features of the artifact and search the database for artifacts that share similar geometric proportions.
- High-Precision Topography and Remote Sensing- Mantega offers high precision topography services using a combination of RTK GPS systems, remote sensing, and drone and aerial imaging methods to develop high-precision 3D models of known or potential archaeological sites; the models can be used for accurate site recording and analysis, or to identify potential subsurface anomalies that are manifest through subtle changes in the topography and/ or imagery.
- Seismic Refraction Subsurface Imaging: Seismic refraction is a non-invasive subsurface investigation technique that can not only identify strata layers, depth to bedrock, and material density, but it can also be used to determine strata/rock dynamics and rippability. Seismic refraction works by releasing a sound wave into the ground and measuring arrival times at different locations by using small pins called geophones. The arrival times of the sound waves can be used to build 2D profiles and 3 dimensional models of the subsurface. Allow us to use this advanced technology to help you understand the subsurface of your projects.
- GIS Data System Compilation and Analysis- Mantega can build and analyze GIS data for demographic and cultural studies, as well as for geographic and geodetic analysis of archaeological sites and artifact recovery locations. GIS data can be built in native ESRI, QGIS, Google Earth, and Autodesk Map 3D formats. Final products can be in the form of files that are delivered directly to the customer, or hosted by Mantega for easy online access.
